July Gloom?:

View from the ShorebreakThis week was "Mrs. Grady's Window Cleaning" and my 8th wedding anniversary.  We were so excited to go play in downtown Huntington Beach and with the summer sun blazing last week we looked forward to work on our tans.  For our local friends you know this week has not been the case!  Despite the overcast weather we still had a great time. We walked the pier and watched the surfers, ate some awesome food, and got some great deals at the street fair.  It reminded me of an anonymous poem I had to memorize when I went to Courreges Elementary School:

Whether the weather be fine,
Or whether the weather be not,
Whether the weather be cold,
Or whether the weather be hot,
We'll weather the weather
Whatever the weather,
Whether we like it or not!

The poor weather did make me think of our customers considering how the weather will effect their newly cleaned or need to be cleaned windows. Dirty windows are caused by 3 things: (read more)

Good News is Good News:

There is a popular idiom that states, "No news is Good News."  Think back to your last conversation with a friend or colleague. What did you talk about? Was is positive and uplifting or was there complaining about some co-worker, poor restaurant service, Lindsay Lohan's court room drama or how bad the traffic was?  Many of us ourselves engaged in negative dialogue, or even listening to someone else's cynical monologue.

I challenge the pessimistic turn of phrase "No news is Good News" with my own saying, "Good News is Good News!"  Let us share some good news with others.  Like the old Bing Crosby song, we've "got to accentuate the positive" and "eliminate the negative."

Think back to you most recent good experience and share it with someone.   Maybe a recent goal you have reached, a favor someone did for you, or just maybe a window cleaner who gave you a sparkling new view!  If someone wants to vent to you.  Help them find the good in the situation.  I promise that as you "spread joy up to the maximum" it will "bring gloom down to the minimum."

They were neat and clean. Did a great job. My windows were so clean you might walk right through them. They were on time and got back to me with a quote when they said they would. I would recommend Grady's Window cleaning to all my friends and family.
